694 Iron Mine Road.
Please note: Park at the side of the road if you are towing a trailer or camper - there is no way to turn around in the driveway.
The store is self serve. Open the doors and peruse the produce on the shelves.
Change provided in the black cash box.
Check off purchased items on the page provided (next to the cash box).
Close and latch the doors behind you when finished to keep the food safe from critters.
Please note, it is a challenge to keep the produce cool in the summer, so some crops may start to wilt and or go soft sooner than you might otherwise expect. We recommend you purchase leaves very soon before consuming.
If you are not satisfied with the quality of our store goods, please contact us - I cannot make improvements unless I know what needs correcting!

Farmgate Store customers: For those of you who purchase our surplus crops every autumn, here is what we have in stock between now and Thanksgiving. More items may become available in November.
Honey: Our award winning (2nd in Regional Competition in 2024, first at MacDonald's Corners Fair in 2025) is now available.
250 Gram gift jars - $6.00
500 Gram jars - $12.00
Kilo jars - $24.00
Our honey's next stop is the regional competition in November in Maberley, Ontario. If we are successful there, it is on to Toronto in February.
We have a very limited quantity of white honey available for Subscription customers only. If there is any left over, this will be directed to the store. Contact me if interested.
Uniform enough to make a mini jack-o-lantern, tasty enough to eat. This is an heirloom that I grew a couple of years at our first farm in Stittsville. After some persistent suggestions from Julia, I opted to plant a few of these this season. The drought likely saved them as the heat and water stress caused the plants to set their fruit early, thus saving the first pumpkins from the ravages of vine borer.
1 Remaining, must be used soon.
Lettuce: Currently, I am stocking three types. Red boston lettuce "Alkindus". A mild tasting, soft leaved salad lettuce with good loft that is sublime in salads. "Freckles", a mini romaine with red speckled leaves. The third type is a red oakleaf type which I have have found to be a very dependable variety. We also have some green boston and mini romaine; these probably need another week to grow.
Orange Carrots: $3.00 / Lb Excellent quality, very good tasting. I finally figured out how to get a reliable germination of carrots in muck soil.
White and Yellow Carrots: $1.00 / Lb. I have to sell these at a lower price as they just don't seem to sell. They taste about 95 per cent as good as the orange ones...
Chard: $2.00 / 6 Oz. Lots of the heirloom giant fordhook; as well as silverado which has a broad, white stem.
Peppers have one of the highest vitamin C contents of any fruit. (YES, THEY ARE A FRUIT!) To put by, simply clean, chop and freeze - no blanching necessary. This saves you a trip to the grocery store in the winter for tasteless green peppers and colored peppers that are (in my distant past experience) all too often moldy on the inside.
Green Bell Peppers: $2.00 / Lb Quantities unlimited, though I may be sending these to the foodbank soon.
Some colored bell peppers are available. I charge $3.00/Lb but will credit you if they are compromised on the inside.
Jalapeno Peppers: $1.00 / Lb Quantities unlimited, though I may be wholesaling these soon.
Shepherd Peppers: $3.00 / Lb. Sweet, rich flavour. Will add savoury to anything they are cooked with: pasta sauce, grilled cheese sandwiches, omelettes, potato salad...they are a great addition to kebabs and are big enough to stuff.
Red or Orange Picnic Peppers: $3.00 / Lb. Very sweet flavour, as sweet as peppers can get. These tiny treats are ideal for salad topping, but can be used anywhere. One of our store customers has a child that has really taken to these, so they clean, chop and freeze these for winter snacks on hockey road trips.
Red Cayenne: $1 for quarter Lb.
Garlic $10.00 / Lb: Several varieties. Choose from hot, long lasting porcelaines, small but sublimely flavoured Creme de la Rasa (similar to a Rocambole type) and lots of medium to small all round use Purple stripe types. May be purchased by half or quarter Lb. All bulbs are coded to type, so you may choose a mix.
I've reduced the price from $12 / Lb as most of the stock is either small or small-medium sized.
Red or yellow cippolini onions: $3.00 / Lb. Generally used as a mild raw or light cooking onion, though I have used several to start a tomato based sauce with excellent results. These will last a couple months (the smaller ones may dry out sooner). Ideal for topping soups, including in salads or adding to burgers.
Long Red Onions of Tropea (Not pictured): A mild raw or light cooking onion that does not keep - eat soon. Delicate flavour, nice aroma without the tearing. Leaves are edible too, though they are stronger flavoured than green onions and do not last (At last check, the leaves are completely gone from the store stock).
(COMING SOON - maybe) "Gladstone White" White cooking onions: $3.00/Lb. Subscription customers will have first opportunity; any left over will be re-directed to the store. Another heirloom onion that I trialed this season with very encouraging results. They handled the drought well and sized up nicely in spite of the lack of rain. Not as long lasting as other cooking onions, so plan to eat these by New Years.
White potatoes, Red Fingerlings and small German butterball (yellow fleshed): $3.00/Lb. These humble apples of the earth look plain, but eating them allows you to discover that potatoes have flavour. And if you think these are good, there are the French Fingerlings, which have a yellow flesh shot with red. Later in the autumn, there will be "Red Sunset" (red potato with red flesh) and red chieftain (which is a very good storage potato). Pictured: Some of the few large yellow flesh potatoes. Most are much smaller - either mini sized or a little bigger.
Parsley: $1 Quarter Lb. Limited supply of smooth leaf variety all month.
Celery: $4.00/bunch. Please note these are not stocked in store, you will need to pre-order about 48 hours in advance. These require a lot of work to keep firm after cutting, I pack them in ice packs and that helps, but don't be surprised if/when they go limp. The flavour remains.
These fruits were salvaged from the ravages of squash vine borer. Few if any are big enough for even a personal size serving, though several together can yield enough pulp for cooking or baking. Kabocha is said to have a fairly good flavour as squash goes. The fruits are extremely long lasting.
I want to open a few up to see how much pulp per pound is available before I set a price, but feel free to let me know if you are interested.
Parsnips: $3.00 / Lb. The tops look promising and they have been frosted once so the flavour can only improve from that. The roots are big, two can easily be more than a pound.
Rutabaga: $1.oo each, irrespective of size. Noticeably better flavour than the store bought varieties.
Asian Cabbage: Milder taste than the typical cabbage, I have changed my growing techniques this year and was rewarded with very big cabbages that are free of cabbage worms that typically damage about a third of my crop, long lasting, though should be stored in cloth as opposed to platic.
Available now - Pork: $12./ Lb all cuts. Free range, grass fed, highly respected animals that had a happy life with one bad moment at the end. Butchered at the Farmersville Community Abattoir in Addison Ontario; CFIA inspected.
To keep produce fresh, we only keep a limited amount of stock in the store.
